Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 24 February 2024
At Bellwether, we are committed to providing powerful retail insights while maintaining the highest standards of data privacy. We believe that "good data never lies," and we apply that same transparency to how we handle your information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect data in three primary ways:
- Information You Provide: When you sign up for a demo, purchase hardware, or create an account, we collect personal details such as your name, business email, phone number, and billing information.
- Device & Usage Data: When you access the Bellwether Dashboard, we automatically collect technical data, including IP addresses, browser types, and how you interact with our software to improve user experience.
- Retail & Footfall Data: Our 3D stereoscopic sensors collect "footfall" data (entry and exit counts). Importantly: Our sensors do not use facial recognition. We distinguish between adults and children and track movement patterns, but we do not identify individual shoppers.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information collected to:
- Provide and maintain the Bellwether analytics platform.
- Sync with your Point of Sale (POS) systems (e.g., Shopify, Vend, Lightspeed) to calculate conversion rates and Dollars Per Visitor (DPV).
- Generate anonymized, aggregated statistical reports to identify industry trends.
- Provide customer support and technical troubleshooting.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share information when:
- Service Providers: We work with trusted partners for cloud hosting (AWS/Azure), payment processing, and hardware shipping.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, we may disclose information to comply with legal obligations or protect the safety of our users.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or sale, your data may be transferred to the new entity under the same privacy protections.
4. GDPR and Privacy Compliance
Bellwether is designed to be GDPR compliant.
- No Facial Recognition: Our sensors process "spatial" data rather than personal biometric data.
- Data Minimization: We only collect the data necessary to provide retail insights.
- Your Rights: Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data held in our systems.
5. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data. This includes encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS) and secure login protocols. However, as no system is 100% secure, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your dashboard credentials.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies on askbellwether.com to analyze website traffic and optimize our marketing efforts. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our technology or legal requirements. We will notify active subscribers of any significant changes via email or dashboard notification.
